The Georgian town of Modbury, which is well provided with a good range of local shops, lies only five and a half miles to the northeast and Yealmpton is to the northwest. For comprehensive shopping centres the A379 provides direct access to Plymouth and Kingsbridge. The beach at Mothecombe on the beautiful Erme estuary is nearby, as well as fine cliff top and coastal walks, many of which are owned by the National Trust.
