Raising money for ABF Devon
The Devon Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) are part of the National Charity of the British Arm, giving a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families when they are in need. The ABF having been doing this since 1944.

It is a charity close to the heart of Gordon Maunder, Chairman of Marchand Petit, who commented: “The ABF are there for the British Army family all over the world, in 62 countries, in the last year the youngest person they supported was 2 years old and the eldest 106. For the third year running they have been named as the number one charity nationally ‘To Deliver on its Promises’ by Third Sector, the UK’s leading publication for
the voluntary sector.”

Dainton Park member Trevor Ongley, has been organising the ABF Devon Charity Golf Day since 2003. Held again at the picturesque Dainton Park Golf Club, teams were invited to take part in two Stableford competitions: Men’s team of Three and Ladies’ Team of Three, each over 18 holes off full handicap teeing off in teams of three. Marchand Petit were delighted to enter a ladies team, Julie Leach, Caroline Hallett and Amanda Burchell pictured above with John Marsh, Norman Minty and Ron Cook of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment Team, all had a fabulous day of golf with Julie winning The Longest Ladies Drive on 16th Hole.

Gordon concluded: “Each year hundreds of special individuals and teams raise thousand of pounds across the UK to support our soldiers and their families and the ABF are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers, I’d recommend visiting their website www.soldierscharity.org to learn more.”
